Pumped storage power plants

Principle used by pumped storage power plants

Pumped storage power plants store electrical energy by pumping water upwards. This water then flows downhill again at a later point and generates electricity using turbines and generators, i.e., electrical energy is transformed into potential energy stored in water and is then later transformed back again into electrical energy so that it can be fed into the grid.
