Latent heat storage systems

Known to everybody: a PCM

Water is the most well-known phase change material (PCM). In nature it dampens temperature fluctuations and stores large volumes of heat. The energy that is required for melting ice would be sufficient to heat the same volume of water by about 80 kelvin. For air conditioning buildings, ice is the most important phase change material.
